Material Girl Madonna is set to take to the stage in Abu Dhabi tonight for the first of her two gigs in the emirate.

She kicked off her MDNA world tour on Thursday and will be wowing crowds in the UAE tonight and tomorrow at the du Arena.

Among the highlights of the show fans can expect to see the Queen of Pop perform 'Give Me All Your Luvin' and a mash-up of the classic 'Express Yourself' and Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way', while dressed as the conductor of a marching band, pictured right.

7DAYS caught up with fans ahead of the gigs as excitement surrounding the shows builds...

Adam Phillips, British, architectural manager: "Madonna is a huge global icon and has changed the face of music so many times across generations which has brought us so many other artists. Easily a contender for a female Michael Jackson for what she has given to the music world. I've not seen her in concert before but now given the opportunity to see her in Abu Dhabi I couldn't turn it down."

Mohammed Elfeky, Egyptian, salesman: "Madonna is a legend, I love everything about her. Who wouldn't like Madonna? She is awesome, from her personality to her voice. Her music, artistic nature, is beautiful!"

Hannah Eyasu, Eritrean, operations manager: "I bought one of the first 1,000 tickets through the website. I'm an old-school fan. I love 'Borderline' and all the old stuff from back when she was still married to Sean Penn in the 80s. It should be great."

Ruth Christian, Indian, PR manager: "Having grown up in Dubai, it's a dream fulfilled to see a legend perform at our doorstep!

I think it says a lot about where the UAE has reached on an international commercial platform that we have such legends including this country as part of their international tours! I wouldn't miss it for the world. And a small cherry on the cake, is the parking at Yas Island - it's so convenient."
